Beat Street Coffee Co And Bistro
The best steak Ive had in a while in San Antonio was at Beat Street Coffee on Main Street. It was a hanger steak, and it was served with olives, raisins and romanesco, says Chef Steve McHugh, who will soon open his restaurant, Cured, at Pearl. The high-end cut of hanger that was topped with just the right amount of sweetness and earthiness was reworked in October when Chef John Carpenter took the helm of the eatery, but Beat Street Owner Henry Leman says guests can still expect a top-notch hanger steak along with inventive sides. Were going to a new American-style with a more progressive approach, he says. Its going to be a really fun menu. What will remain a constant? The bistros exemplary cuts of meat and its signature specialtya hot cup of joe. 2512 N. Main Ave., 210-320-2099, beatstreetcoffee.com
SAUCESMany steak purists wont let any sauce get between the meat and the mouth. All the same, some filet mignon lovers drape beef in béarnaisea beautiful emulsion that incorporates clarified butter and egg yolks with any combination of shallots, white wine vinegar, peppercorns, chervil and tarragon.Executive Chef Ross Burtwell of Fredericksburgs Cabernet Grill uses Mexican marigold mint, also known as Texas tarragon, and serrano chiles for a unique Texas twist. Make it at home its really not that hard.

Myrons Prime Steak House
What makes Myrons a local favorite? Owner Bill Been attributes the success to the USDA Chicago Prime beef, the 1,200-degree double-sided grilling technique and the secret combination of salts and spices in the Myrons Seasoning. Entrees are preceded by a huge iceberg lettuce wheel with the diners favorite dressing. Ask for it topped with crispy shoestring potatoes, Been suggests. That makes the salad sing. And if you want to hear your steak sing too, top it with Shrimp Myron. Been says both of his steakhouses are busy these days. Our first location, in New Braunfels, is booming as an entertainment venue for longtime locals and the industry folks working the Eagle Ford Shale, he says. And were doing really great in our second year in San Antonio. Each one has its own vibe. 10003 N.W. Military Hwy., Ste. 2101, 210-493-3031 136 N. Best Brazilian Steakhouse: Chama Gacha Brazilian Steakhouse
My husband and I go to Chama Gaúcha several times a year and were obsessed with it. The service is beyond top-notch: the waiters always pull out your chair and Ive never had a bad experience here. With this Brazilian steakhouse model, you pay a set price per person and waiters carve the steak tableside for you. They also have a bomb salad bar thats full of high-end pickles, veggies, cheeses, and more.
P.S. If you tell them youre celebrating a special occasion, youll get a slice of cheesecake on the house!

Best Fancy Steakhouse Myrons Prime Steakhouse
Myrons is easily one of the fancier steakhouses Ive been to. But although Myrons is certainly fancy, it isnt so pretentious that you have to worry about which fork youre supposed to use.
While they serve USDA Prime beef, Myrons does Texas-style steak right. Try the ribeye, Kansas City strip, bone-in filet, or chateaubriand for an unforgettably decadent dinner. In addition to their fantastic steak, Myrons quail, lamb, and surf and turf should be on everyones San Antonio bucket list.

Steakhouses Near The Riverwalk
I’m hopibg for some advice regarding steakhouses near the Riverwalk, we are staying at the Westin so walking distance from there would be great
5 replies to this topic
I vote Bohannans, pricey – about 100 bucks per person. Favorite “cheap” steak is Josephine Street Cafe. Not walkable, but short uber to the Pearl area.
I’ve seen other recommendations for Bohannans, but they were from some time ago, so I was worried in case it had changed, but obviously not, Thanks for this. Someone we visited a couple of weeks ago suggested we should go to the Pearl area for lots of choice, they thought the river shuttle was the best way, to get there, but it doesn’t seem to be running.
Old San Francisco Steak House
10223 Sahara Dr, San Antonio, TX 78216Phone: 210-342-2323
A modern beautiful venue center, Old San Fran is the perfect spot for a professional luncheon or large gathering. The entire space has been renovated to accommodate large private events, so, unfortunately, you couldnt dine here for a weekday dinner.
However, guests can choose between standard menu packages or custom packages for all kinds of private catering. Food selections include a variety of 8-10 oz steaks, specialty cuisines, and original chef creations, and their wide dessert selection makes ending the night on a sweet note a breeze.
The restaurant reminds me of an antique-style ballroom. Youll definitely want to look your best when dining in this fancy setting.

Ostra At Mokara Hotel & Spa
Ostra is the River Walks best overall seafood experience, with fresh East Coast oysters and a deft touch with roasted and grilled fish. Its formal without being stuffy, and the striped beach umbrellas on the riverfront sidewalk have a nice synchronicity with margaritas served in giant blue martini glasses. 212 W. Drink Pairing Tips For Steak

-
Rosé with your grilled turkey burger
When considering what goes best with grilled turkey burger, we recommend a glass of Rosé, it truly complements the dish as it battles the grilled flavours.
-
A next-level pairing for Pinot Noir
When ordering pork, experts suggest pairing it with a glass of Pinot Noir, a popular red wine.
-
Pair Sauvignon Blanc with pork ribs with a barbecue rub
having pork ribs with a barbecue rub and not sure white wine to drink with it? Go for Sauvignon Blanc. Its acidicflavors will pair nicely with the food and complete the meal.

Best Wine With Your Steak: Kirbys Steakhouse
I go to Kirbys mostly for the fried pickles, but you cant shake a stick at their aged Prime beef. I adore the Steak and Cake dish, which is a 5-ounce steak with a crab cake, but they also serve a huge 24-ounce Cowboy ribeye.
While the steak is awesome, Kirbys is a big destination for wine lovers. They have an in-house Sommelier and huge international wine collection. Oh, and Kirbys also does a free shuttle service if youre staying at a nearby hotel, so feel free to indulge in a few extra glasses.

Bohanans Prime Steaks And Seafood
The quiet, refined atmosphere at Bohanans is part of the downtown restaurants complete dining experience. We believe perfect service and perfect food go hand in hand, says Executive Chef/Owner Mark Bohanan. Bohanan was the first in town to serve ultra-superb Akaushi beef, a specialty item that remains popular with both the curious and the connoisseur. If youre worried about fat or have health issues, Akaushi is the beef for you, explains the chef. The flavor is outstanding due to the high amount of marbling. And the fat in the meat is actually healthier fat. The rest of the steaks here are USDA Primeanything but run-of-the-millcooked over mesquite hardwood in a grill Bohanan customized himself. The chefs favorite steak? I was a NY strip guy. Now, Im hooked on the bone-in filet. It offers a more satisfying chew than a traditional filet, and the bone adds extra flavor. Mary Martini, Central Market cooking school manager, says nothing compares to Bohanans. Its just great. The service is great. Everything is great, she says. I dont even think about eating steak anywhere else. If I want a steak, Im going there. 219 E. Houston St., 210-472-2600, bohanans.com

Best Steakhouse On The Riverwalk: Fogo De Cho Brazilian Steakhouse
Sample some of the best, juiciest steak of your life at Fogo de Chão. This downtown steak restaurant is located inside the Rivercenter Mall, which makes it a popular stop thats near all of the touristy areas of San Antonio. Instead of the typical Texas-style steaks you might eat at Texas Roadhouse, Fogo de Chão cooks its meat in the churrasco Brazilian style.
Translation: its smoky, tender, juicy, and perfectly charred every time.
Fogo de Chão is definitely a dressier spot to grab a steak, so make sure you wear your Sunday best. They have happy hour specials every day ranging from $4 $8 . I recommend getting the continuous tableside service, which includes the Market Table and Feijoada Bar for around $60/person. The filet mignon is to die for, but my husband loves the cordeiro .

Most Adventurous Steakhouse: Perrys
I have literally had dreams about Perrys food. They make an insanely good filet mignon with a house-made fig barbecue sauce that I still think about, and the atmosphere is romantic and very high-end.
Perrys is fancy, but they still serve non-pretentious Texas-style steaks. You can even order more adventurous cuisine here, like steak tartare, escargot, barbecue octopus, tempura-fried lobster tail, and even Wagyu beef!

Fogo De Cho Brazilian Steakhouse
849 E Commerce St #393, San Antonio, TX 78205Phone: 210-227-1700
Located above the popular River Walk is Fogo de Chão, a southern-style Brazilian steakhouse where tradition meets modernity.
I enjoyed dining at this location because of its proximity to the River Walk, which is a really attractive spot at night once the streets illuminate.
For a flat rate, guests can get personalized tableside service of all their favorite fire-roasted steaks. Throughout the meal, guests are served traditional Brazilian side dishes such as warm pao de queijo , caramelized bananas, and crispy polenta.
For a more decadent experience, you can get a premium cut such as the Wagyu Ancho a dry-aged 24 oz premium steak aged for 21 dayssave room for leftovers.
What started as a reinvention of old recipes soon became one of San Antonios prime locations for quality steaks and handcrafted cocktails.
Located in the Stone Oak area, Kirbys is the perfect location for visitors staying in the nearby hotels. The restaurant even offers a complimentary shuttle service to residents of the hotel.
The ambiance is elegant yet casual suit and tie unnecessary .
Their prime steaks are top-ranked among San Antonio food critics. I very much enjoyed the flavor of their all-natural Midwestern-aged prime beef I was able to appreciate it most when I ordered their Pepper Steak.

Boiler House Texas Grill
The Tomahawk rib-eye is completely ridiculous, in a good way says Executive Chef Jeff White. We call it total unctuous drama. A 32-ounce center-cut, Prime bone-in rib-eye, lip off and 5 inches thick. The bone is 17 inches long. When they take it out of the kitchen, it stops conversations at every table it passes. The $95 hunk, which reasonably serves four diners and comes with two side dishes, may be the showiest cut, but it isnt the only steak on the menu. There are more reasonably sized 14-ounce strips and rib-eyes, as well as an 8-ounce filet, all Prime grade. We top them each with a compound butter to add even more flavor, says White. With all that flavor, who needs béarnaise? 312 Pearl Pkwy. Bldg. 3, 210-354-4644, boilerhousesa.com

Best French Fusion Steakhouse: Signature

Signature does French/Texas fusion thats both high-end and unusual. I mean, where else can you get rabbit gnocchi?? The menu isnt long or complicated, but they change it up seasonally, so youre always able to try something new. Signatures filet mignon is particularly succulent and comes with fondant potatoes, creamed leeks, spinach, and bacon for a truly high-end yee-haw dining experience.
