How To Make The Hamburger Steaks:
First heat olive oil in a large cast-iron skillet. Then combine the ground beef and all of your seasonings in a large bowl. Next, add diced peppers, onions, bread crumbs, and eggs.
Mix everything with either your hands or a spoon. Do not over mix the meat. Take my word for it, you don’t want tough hamburger steaks!
After that, form the mixture into patties with your hands. For reference, the patties should be about the size of a donut.
To prevent shrinkage, poke a tiny hole in the middle of each patty. After all, we want patties, not meatballs. Set them aside on a plate or piece of parchment paper.
When your patties are formed and the oil in the skillet is hot, add the steaks. You want the skillet hot before you add your meat so you get a nice sear.
Fry on each side for about 5 minutes. The trick is to not fully cook them. They’ll finish cooking when you add them to the gravy later.
Ensure you fry the patties in batches. Avoid overcrowding the pan so you don’t lose flavor or that caramelized crust.
As your patties are done cooking, remove them from the skillet and set them aside on a clean plate, parchment paper, or a cooling rack.
How To Make Hamburger Steak
After you flip the beef patties, finish cooking until they are cooked through. I cook ground beef well. If you prefer yours another way then you can adjust your cooking times as needed.
Transfer the juicy hamburger steaks to a plate and set aside. Remove most of the fat released from the meat during cooking leaving a couple of tablespoons.

Helpful Tips For Sheet Pan Cooking
There are so many good reasons to cook using this simple method. My Sheet Pan Ranch Chicken Thighs and Sheet Pan Brats and Potatoes have become go-to recipes when I want a quick, flavor-packed dinner without a lot of effort.
- Choose a good, sturdy sheet pan. I use this one, and it has served me well for several years. Its heavy and does not warp when heated.
- Choose proteins and veggies with similar cook times. This ensures all the food is cooked to the proper doneness. If you dont have ingredients that fit this, you can start the protein or hearty veggies on the sheet pan in the oven, then add the more tender ingredients after a bit of cooking. Also, cut your veggies to the same size to help them cook evenly.
- Make sure to season evenly. I like to sprinkle my veggies with olive oil, salt, and pepper plus any other seasoning, and toss them together with my hands. Then I add my protein and season it separately.
- When you need a bit of extra browning and crisping, just turn your broiler on at the end of roasting and broil until your desired level of crispiness is achieved. Make sure to keep a close eye on the sheet pan because broiling happens quickly!

How To Make The Brown Gravy:
Don’t wash that skillet just yet! Use it to prepare the brown gravy according to package directions.
Add an extra cup or two of water, so the sauce does not get too thick. Now add the Worcestershire sauce to the gravy, mixing well.
Once the gravy reaches the thick consistency we desire, place all of the steaks back into the skillet. Finally, let it simmer on low heat for about 20 minutes before plating.
Using Shredded Butter In Burger Meat

Incorporating butter into the beef is a chef secret to keep the patties nice and juicy. When meat cooks, the proteins tighten and contract and in doing so, moisture escapes. This can result in tough bricks of meat. The butter in the patties steam as they cook which helps maintain the moisture of the protein.
Its important that the butter is about the same temperature and shape as the ground beef pieces are. The best way to achieve this is to shred frozen butter. This way, even a very well-done burger can still be juicy!

Hamburger Steak Without Gravy Easiest Dinner
This is a very easy recipe. I mean, I have no idea why Im even posting it, since its so simple. But, I went through the trouble of taking lovely pictures of this quaint little meal, so why not share it with you?
The ingredients. They seem so simple, dont they? Well, they are. Ive figured out this particular cast of characters provide a great boost to plain ground beef.
The cayenne plays off of the Worcestershire, and the seasoned salt does something that regular table or kosher salt couldnt do. These are magical ingredients.
After you combine the ground beef with the dream team ingredients, place them in a cast iron skillet on medium heat. Just brown them on each side, then place on a plate. Youll add them back to the skillet a bit later.
Look at that skillet. This would be a perfect place to put some sliced onions and peppers. So, thats just what well do.
Dont be fooled by the smoke coming from my vegetables. Its actually steam. When we find onions and peppers on sale or clearance at our grocery store, I buy them up, slice them, then freeze them.
This bunch was frozen in a quart size bag a few weeks before. It turns out to be way cheaper than those peppers and onions frozen vegetable bags in the freezer section.
After the vegetables cook for a bit, and the onions are almost translucent, place each hamburger steak within the vegetables and cover.

How To Freeze Hamburger Steak To Use Later:
Since it is only the 2 of us eating dinner these days, I froze the extra hamburger steaks to use at a later date.
This is how I did it:
I formed the extra burgers and placed them on a parchment lined cookie sheet. Then, I placed them uncovered in the freezer.
After about 2 hours, I removed them and packaged them in a large Zip-loc freezer bag. That way, I can just remove the amount of burgers I want to cook next time and they wont be stuck together!
