Grill In Outdoor Grill
- Preheat the outdoor grill for medium high heat.
- Grease the grate generously with oil. Wipe off the excess marinade from the chicken and place them over the preheated grill.
- Cook for 5 to 6 mins and turn them the other side. Baste the marinade on the top side and turn it again after 5 to 6 mins. The cook time depends on the size of your chicken pieces.
- It takes about 27 to 30 mins to cook the Tandoori chicken fully. Insert a meat thermometer in the thickest part of the chicken and cook until it shows 165F or 75 C. Brush with some butter or mustard oil.

What Cut Of Chicken Is Best To Use For Oven Bbq Chicken
For the juiciest, most tender oven bbq chicken, youre definitely going to want to use bone-in, skin on chicken pieces for this. I used a mix of thighs and drumsticks, and I do recommend using thighs and/or legs, since dark meat is harder to overcook and almost always tastes juicier than white.
Heres a general run-down of which cuts are worst and best for oven bbq chicken:
- Worst: boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- Not quite as bad: boneless, skinless chicken thighs
- Better: bone-in, skin on chicken breasts
- Best: bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs and/or legs
If you want to use chicken breasts, I recommend making sure you get bone-in, skin on breasts. Or at the very least, bone-in. The skin and the bone both help keep the chicken super juicy. And if you use dark meat as well, youve hit the trifecta! Using bone-in, skin on dark meat guarantees juicy, tender chicken every time. As a bonus: these pieces are generally a lot less expensive!

Recently I found a way to make grilled chicken foolproof. What do I mean? I mean, its a way of grilling chicken where you know for sure that the meat is cooked through, and you know for sure that it is tender and juicy, definitely not dry.
This method is great for if youre having friends over because you can do most of it ahead of time. You can also make a big batch so if youve got a lot of friends, this recipes for you!

S To Prepare Grilled Chicken
Make a 4 cm slit at the end of one of the chicken legs and pass the other chicken leg through the slit. When the chicken legs are fixed, wrap two pieces of foil around the ends of the chicken legs so that they do not burn under direct heat.
The ends of chicken legs are free of meat and fat and burn very quickly due to heat. After performing all the above steps, tie the chicken with a thick piece of yarn and fix it completely. Pour some lemon juice over the whole surface of the chicken again. Place the chicken on the oven skewer and place in a special place.
Turn on the grill flame and set the skewer to rotating. Every 15 minutes, cover the surface of the chicken with a mixture of melted butter and 1 tablespoon of brewed saffron with a kitchen brush. So that it does not dry out and becomes completely flavored and crunchy. It takes about 3 hours to fully cook the chicken with this method. This time can be more or less depending on the type of chicken.
You can make sure you cook it by dipping a fork or knife into the chicken. When the chicken is well cooked, gently remove the chicken from the skewer. - Bone-in chicken thighs bake in the same time as rice, which makes them the perfect cut of chicken for this recipe! They also guarantee juicy chicken pieces without drying out. Theres nothing worse than dry chicken!
- Skin-OFF thighs work so much better when compared to skin-ON thighs! During testing, we found leaving the skin-on resulted in gluggy, sticky and half raw rice. Too much chicken fat seeped into the rice while baking.
- Chicken drumsticks can be used with skin on or off. Both work well as the amount of skin/fat on drumsticks is much less than thighs. Taste wise, we preferred skin off drumsticks.
- If you prefer using boneless chicken breasts or boneless thighs, add them in after the rice has had 20 minutes of baking in the oven .
- Arrange your chicken over the rice as the image above shows. We found chicken MUST be placed over the middle section of the rice to make sure the rice gets cooked. Leaving the middle uncovered resulted in a few crunchy grains.

I stole a trick from Thanksgiving turkey to keep the chicken perfectly moist while grilling: BRINE your chicken before you cook it.
Brining consists of soaking the chicken in a salt water solution, often with extra flavors like spices and herbs added.
Like a marinade, it gives the chicken flavor, and it also harnesses the power of science to keep the chicken more moist during cooking.
When you soak meat in salty water, the solution travels through the meat via osmosis .
The meat will absorb both the flavor of the brine and some of the water. You end up with a juicier final result.
I recommend marinating the chicken for at least 30 minutes, and you can let it sit for up to 8 hours. After 8 hours, the meat may begin to break down too much and have an odd texture.

And they conduct heat well to make sure that your food is well cooked on the top and bottom, and they are really good at being non-stick, even though they dont have any non-stick coating .

Oh boy, do I love some good crispy chicken skin. Those dark, charred parts of oven bbq chicken are the best!
