This Ultimate Grill Features 238 Square Feet Of Cooking Area
We usually prefer to feature the “ultimate version” of really anything we post, such as The Ultimate Bed, The Ultimate Cutting Board, or The Ultimate Garage Door Opener. Sometimes it’s just too hard to discern if it’s truly the ultimate version of that product, whereas other times it’s quite easy. Such as this Ultimate Grill that features a massive 23.8 square feet of cooking area. If that’s not the ultimate BBQ grill, I’ll eat my own hat.
It’s called the Louisiana Grills Champion Pellet Grill, and it features over 48,000 BTUs with 3 levels of cooking cabinets. On top is a warming oven, in the middle a smoke box and a standard grill area with 3 different grilling tiers. On the bottom is two large cabinets for storage.
The giant BBQ pellet grill allows you to never worry about burning or overcooking your food by using an integrated masterful control of airflow throughout all the cooking chambers. A proprietary exhaust system allows you to evenly cook, grill, and smoke, in each chamber. A handle on the exhaust pipe on the top allows you to precisely control the air, and temperature gauges on the outside of each chamber give you all the information you need to perfectly cook the ultimate meal.
On the main level of the giant grill is a fan-forced convection airflow, which allows the grill to work like a convection oven. There’s also a flame-broiler on the grill that will allow you to sear a steak using a direct flame when needed.

Pit Boss Vs Louisiana Grills Vertical Pellet Smokers
If you are unsure what exactly is the difference between a horizontal vs vertical pellet smoker, please check out my linked article. Essentially a vertical pellet smoker is just that, hence it can purely smoke and not grill.
The trade-off of losing the grilling capabilities of a horizontal pellet grill/smoker is with a vertical smoker you typically get a larger cooking area for a lower price point. Danson sells quite a significant range of vertical pellet smokers under both Pit Boss and Louisiana Grills brands, so are there any differences?
Well, when it comes to the vertical pellet smokers between the two brands, other than a different colour/paint finish, they are in many cases identical, except when it comes to the price.
Take the example above of the Pit Boss Pro Series 4-Series vertical pellet smoker and the Louisiana Grills Black Label 4-Series. These are essentially very similar in size/specification but are priced differently.
The Pit Boss Pro Series 4-Series vertical pellet smoker is another Lowes exclusive and is currently priced around $400. Whereas the price stated on the Louisiana Grills website for the Black Label 4-Series vertical pellet smoker is $690.

Louisiana Grills Champion Backyard Pro At Costco Review: I Like It
June 4, 2018 By David
I was spending some time at Costco over the weekend and spotted one of the best deals I have seen in a long time. Costco has partnered with Danson to market the Louisiana Grills Champion Backyard Pro pellet smoker exclusively at Costco and this thing is a beauty!
I love this grill because it means that Danson has finally woken up and responded to what grill buyers actually want.
Danson is the parent company that owns Louisiana Grills and Pit Boss. With the Champion Backyard Pro Danson has made a pellet smoker that is both high quality and very affordable . The Backyard Pro is made of 14 gauge steel and is essentially a Louisiana Grills 900 Series that has been fitted with a side smoker box.
The Backyard Pro has massive capacity. The primary cooking grate offers 634 square inches of space while the secondary warming rack throws in another 280 for a combined area of 914 square inches in the main chamber. The multiple trays in the side smoking box combine for 1,395 square inches for a total capacity of 2,309 square inches.
The temperature range on the main body of the grill runs from 180 to 600F. The digital control allows you to adjust the temperature in 5 degree increments instead of the 25 degree increments on the cheaper Pit Boss products. The main chamber also has a sliding heat shield over the fire pot that can be moved to expose whatever you are grilling to open flames. This Char Griller feature is a nice touch and lets you play with live flames.

A To Z List Of The Best Bbq Wood Pellets
A pellet grill/smoker is only as good as the BBQ pellets you put into it. The type/quality of the BBQ wood pellets you use will impact temperature performance and smoke flavour. There are many pellet flavours including Apple, Hickory, Mapel, Oak and Walnut to name but a few. However, some brands are hardwood blended pellets whereas others are 100% single wood species.
In this article, I provide details on over 20 brands of BBQ wood pellets, their range of flavours, whether they are 100% single wood species or hardwood blended pellets, their typical price and where they are available. I also provide tips on how to get the best deal when buying BBQ wood pellets and how to test pellet quality. Finally, I discuss the new kid on the block, charcoal pellets and their special attributes compared to all other hardwood BBQ pellets.

Construction & Ease Of Assembly
Louisiana Grills hangs their hat on using heavy-duty materials to provide you with a high-quality grill that will last for many years to come. They use thick 14-gauge steel throughout the Champion Pellet Grill. Then it is all protected by a very durable layer of powder coat. The heavy-duty cast iron grill grates are coated with a special layer of nonstick porcelain. This maximizes heat retention, while also making it easy to clean the grates afterward.
Assembling the Louisiana Grills Champion Pellet Grill can be a daunting task. It is a relatively complicated and very large wood pellet grill. There are a lot of parts and when its fully assembled it rings in at a staggering 460 pounds!
Its not the sort of thing you are going to just slap together in the garage on a Wednesday night after work, and then haul it up the steps onto your deck. You should plan for it to eat up the better part of a Saturday afternoon, and you will need at least one person to help you. It might even be wise to promise two friends a free meal if theyll show up and spare you getting a hernia.
You should plan on assembling it where it will spend its life, rather than attempt to move it. Yes, there are four quality casters, and they do roll easier than you might think. Still, moving the Champion Wood Pellet Grill is like moving a football blocking sled.

Louisiana Grills Champion Backyard With Smokebox
The Champion Backyard Wood Pellet Grill and Smoker by Louisiana Grills revolutionizes grilling in three different ways: the digital control center and lid thermometer allows for precise temperature control from 180° to 600°F , the use of all-natural hardwood pellets allows you to enjoy the amazing wood flavor with the single push of a button, and a programmable meat probe that works together with the digital control center to regulate temperature.
Adjust the meat probe to your desired internal meat temperature, and when it hits the temperature, the grill auto-adjusts to a low smoke setting when ready. Never worry about overcooking or burning your food. With the adjustable, slide-plate flame broiler, you can sear steaks and fish just like your favorite steakhouse.
Our proprietary exhaust system makes for even grilling and smoking in the main grilling chamber, and a damper allows great versatility and control when using the smoke cabinet extension.
