Why Youll Love Slow Cooker Honey Garlic Steak Bites

Easy dinner As busy parents, theres nothing better than having a completely satisfying meal for your whole family to come home to at the end of the day.

Great flavor Sweet, savory, garlicky, and saucy is a heavenly combo. The juicy, tender beef is amazing, and the aroma of it all is just mouth-watering.

Family favorite Everyone loves a classic sweet and savory sauce. The little steak bites make it easier for little ones to enjoy just as much as the adults!

Versatile As mentioned earlier, I love it on rice, but its a recipe that can be used for so many things like tacos, burritos, salads, etc. Good thing it makes a lot, so theres no shortage of leftovers!

How To Make Slow Cooker Honey Garlic Steak Bites

  • Step One: Heat sesame oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat and sear the stew beef until brown on all sides. No need to cook all the way through, just as long as were locking in the flavor and moisture. It will cook all the way through once in the slow cooker.
  • Step Two: Add the browned steak bites to the basin of the slow cooker and pour the whisked combination of garlic, honey, ketchup, soy sauce, and oregano overtop. Stir to combine.
  • Step Three: Cover and cook on low for 4-6 hours until the beef is tender. Since every slow cooker runs differently, I dont recommend cooking it on high. Low works well to reduce the chance of the sugars burning.
  • Step Four: If you notice the sauce getting too thick before the beef is tender, add 1/2 cup of water to the crockpot. If its too thin, then mix a cornstarch slurry of 1 Tablespoon of cornstarch with 1/4 cup of water and stir it into the sauce.
  • Step Five: Once the beef is tender and the sauce is the right consistency, serve with rice and a sprinkling of sesame seeds, parsley, or scallions if desired. Enjoy!

    Making A Slow Cooker Steak

Crock Pot Cube Steak with Gravy

We dont enjoy steaks very often, but since we buy our meat in bulkwe usually tend to have some in the freezer most of the time and its fun to pull one out here and there for a Sunday treat.

Weve yet to buy a grill though at our little homestead so my only option for cooking would be in the oven or on the stove top. Ive never had much luck with fully cooking a steak on the stove top and I know those of you with no air conditioning can relatebut Id do just about anything to not heat up my oven during these hot days!

Our solution to this problem is simple and we just love it! Not only do we get a soft and tender steak no matter what cut we use, but its also full of flavor and I dont have to worry about getting it too well done or heating up the house while Im making it. How? We are now connoisseurs of the slow cooker steak!

This is really so easy to make Im not sure why I didnt think about it before. I love to cook just about anything in the slow cooker! Heres all you need to do to make the perfect slow cooker steak. And dont forget about this recipe for Steak Sauce to go with it!

    How To Make Swiss Steak:

Shake the steaks in flour in a gallon size zip lock bag to coat the steaks thoroughly with the flour.

Heat the olive oil in a large sauce pan on medium high heat. Cook the steaks on each sides until slightly brown .

If you have a Ninja cooker, you can just do everything in the same pot. We love these because you can brown the meat in the same slow cooker for recipes that call for that.

Next, transfer the steaks to the crock pot if you are using a skillet.

Put the remaining ingredients in the crock pot. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours until the steak is tender.

Serve over mashed potatoes and enjoy!

    How To Reheat Steak Bites

You can easily dump them back into the crockpot and heat them that way. Its especially great if youve made them ahead of time and plan to serve them to a crowd. Once theyre heated through, you can keep them warm until youre ready.

You can also reheat them in a skillet on the stovetop or the microwave. If you think the sauce is too thick, add a splash of water to it while it reheats.

It is as simple as adding some steak sauce, garlic, salt & pepper to the bottom of your slow cooker. Next, add in steaks. Top with the remaining sauce then let your slow cooker work its magic while you go about your day. In a few hours, your home will smell as if someone has been slaving over a hot stove all day!

Disclaimer: For those of you who love a really rare steak or one that is perfectly charred by an open flame, you won’t be getting that here. What you will get is the ability to take a tougher piece of meat and turn it into a really delicious steak meal.

How to Cook a STEAK in the Crock Pot

Were big fans of steak and potatoes whether its garlic mashed potatoes or roasted potatoes. Ill usually do a simple veggie side as well like oven roasted carrots, roasted zucchini, or oven roasted garlic green beans.

When Im serving a larger crowd, Ill always have a basket of bread on the table and these one hour dinner rolls are always a hit.

If youre using these steak bites as an appetizer for game day parties, holiday parties, or another type of gathering, have some toothpicks handy and serve them with a dipping sauce.

Tips To Thicken Pepper Steak Sauce

This recipe uses cornstarch to thicken the sauce, and we were happy with the resulting texture. If youd like your sauce even thicker, here are a few tips:

    • Add Time. Leave your slow cooker uncovered on HIGH for about 20 minutes instead of 10 to give the sauce additional time to reduce.
    • Add Additional Cornstarch. You can add a second round of the cornstarch slurry dont go too crazy or you may change the flavor, but I would say you can comfortably add 1 additional tablespoon cornstarch, whisked together with 1 tablespoon water, then stir it into the slow cooker.

    Tips On Making Crockpot Steak

Youre in for a nice and juicy treat with this crock pot steak recipe thats bursting with tender meat and rich sauce. Its a simple recipe that promises a lot of flavors, and you can make this slow cooker steak even more delicious with some of our tips and variations. Our tips below will help you make the best slow cooker steak with ease:

    • Try different types of steak like eye round steak, skirt steak, flank steak, flat iron steak, or chuck steak. These are some of the other best beef parts to use. This recipe works with other inexpensive tender steak cuts so dont hesitate to switch it up since the dish will taste just as delicious with the sauce.
    • Use red wine vinegar as a non-alcoholic substitute for red wine. Since it has added vinegar, it can also tenderize the meat. Its mostly used for salad dressings and marinades so combining it with the beef will also add a tasty and savory depth to it.
    • Substitute steak seasoningfor the powdered spice ingredients. If you have one on hand, then a prepared bottle of steak seasoning can also be used to season the meat.
    • Use beef broth instead of alternative sauce packets like au jus mix for the gravy recipe. We recommend using it because the flavor combination of the deglazed wine, beef broth, and seasonings taste much richer.

Ingredients For Crock Pot Swiss Steak

MEAT: Traditionally, Swiss steak comes from inside round or cube steaks. These cuts become tender when cooked low and slow.

VEGGIES: Use veggies like onions, peppers, carrots, and celery.

Add in mushrooms, green beans, or fresh green peas if youd like.

SAUCE: Diced or crushed tomatoes and beef broth are paired with flavorful ingredients to make a thick tomato gravy.

Add diced canned tomatoes to this sauce or crushed tomatoes for a smoother sauce. If you prefer extra sauce, you can add extra tomatoes.
