Is It Worth Buying Replacement Parts Or Should You Get A New Grill

While some problem items like rusted grates and burner tubes with uneven flames are easy to spot, other grill issues often escape notice unless you are looking for them. Before you make a major investment in replacement parts make sure you examine the frame of the grill. If the metal tubes that hold the grill onto the cart frame are about to rust through then start thinking about getting a new grill. Replacement cart assemblies are extremely hard to find and will easily cost you a few hundred bucks if you do manage to track one down.

You will also want to take a look at the slider rails that hold the grease box onto the grill. The screws that hold the slider rails onto the grill are notorious for rusting out and letting the grease box become detached.

In many cases the screws will completely corrode into the cast iron base of the grill and will have to be drilled out. If you are not up to this task then it is better to find out now than after you have bought parts.

How Do I Clean My Bbq Accessories Best

Some bbq utensils are dishwasher safe, but gentle washing up by hand will help to keep your bbq accessories looking their best for longer. Always wash your Weber knives by hand, one at a time, so that you dont cut yourself when reaching into soapy water. If you need to soak off tough residues, place the items in a shallow tray with soapy water for several hours.

Burner Tubes And Ignition Kits

The correct burner tubes for these grills is Weber Part Number 7508 and a link is provided below.

The ignition kits are a little trickier. In 2007 these grills came with a snap style piezo ignition If your igniter button looks like the picture below then you have a piezo ignition.

After 2007 these grills came with an electronic ignition. If your igniter button looks like the picture below then you need the Electronic Battery Igniter.

I have not been able to find a source for the igniter that lit the side burner on the 320 grills of this time period.

The Weber Spirit 210 grills with side mounted burner controls were manufactured from 2007-2012. There were no Spirit 220 grills manufactured in this time frame.

Understand The Quality Differences In The Parts

In general you will have three choices for replacement Flavorizer bars. Weber offers these bars in porcelain enameled steel or stainless steel. The ones made of porcelain enameled steel are cheaper, will easily last you three years and work just as well as ones made from stainless steel.

If you do want longer lasting ones then go with the heavy duty option made by third party sellers. These are typically made of 18 gauge stainless steel and usually cost much less than the ones offered by Weber.

In general you will also have three choices for replacement grill grates. The grates made from porcelain steel are the cheapest and work okay. Your other two choices are grates made from stainless steel or cast iron.

I love the thought, look and feel of cast iron but when it comes to grilling I really have to recommend the stainless steel. Stainless steel grates will give you better grill marks than cast iron grates any day of the week. In addition, stainless steel is easier to clean and will last longer than cast iron.

Where Do I Store My Bbq Tools When Not In Use

After cleaning your bbq accessories thoroughly, store them carefully so they cannot be knocked or damaged. Weber Spirit 500 And 700 Parts

The Weber Spirit 500 and 700 grills were made from 1995 to 1998. These are great grills and many of the basic parts are still readily available.

One of the key parts for this grill, a replacement hose and regulator, are no longer available. There is a video at the end of this post that shows how you can easily convert your Spirit 500 or 700 to accept the new style hose and regulator that is available.

With grills this old please make sure there is no significant frame damage from corrosion before you spend a lot of money on replacement parts.

There were three versions of the Weber Spirit 500 that were functionally equivalent. The only differences between these three grills are cosmetic.

These parts are for the two burner Weber 200 series which were produced from 2013 to 2017. The 200 series includes the 210 and 220 grills with the difference between them being that the Weber Spirit 220 has a side burner.

My Personal Goal For This Site Is To Help Get You The Right Parts In Under Five Minutes

This site does NOT have any information on converting your grill from Liquid Propane to Natural Gas. I see this question on the barbecue forums on a regular basis. Converting your grill from one fuel source to another is a practice that Weber advises against and I will follow their lead on this one.

Another place where I am not very helpful is with the side tables. I simply dont have a reliable source for the different thermoset and stainless side tables that came with the different grills. Sorry about that.

Next on your list should be a thermometer for checking if the food is done, and essential cutlery such as Weber chefs knives, skewers, spatula and a good basting brush.

Are Your Parts Under Warranty

One last thing I recommend you do before buying parts is to READ your warranty. These grills come from Weber built to last and backed by a serious warranty that they fully support. The burner tubes carry a ten year warranty while other parts have coverage that varies between three to five years.
